Is it just people with too much time on their hands aka people working for car insurance companies that do car insurance quotes with fake names, or does Joe Public (you) do the same?

Some recent research from price comparison site TheComparisons shows that some of the most common fake names used on car insurance quotes online is:

• David Beckham - No, he does not have that many cars!
• Elvis Presley - Who said the king is dead??
• Barney Rubble - Yabba-dabba-do!
• Scooby Do
• Ben Dover - How rude!
• And many others…..

There is no clear research that says your name has any significant impact on your car insurance cost, although it would not surprise me if the car insurance companies have name based risk details as well. Perhaps car insurance for Dave is more expensive than car insurance for Jack?

Can’t blame people for using fake names and phone numbers while researching car insurance quotes, as the callback comes very quickly and can be very aggressive. Personally i have never given my correct phone number on any research i have done.

Would be great if others out there would share their fake car insurance names with us as well so feel free to leave a comment.
